Foundations A Readers

Foundations A Readers

This set of ten engaging controlled texts is designed specifically for beginning readers. Unlike traditional early readers that rely on sight words or predictable patterns, these books empower children to apply the phonograms they’ve learned in Foundations A, helping them develop essential decoding skills.

Team Reading Style
Ideal for one-on-one instruction, small groups, or large groups, three of the ten books are designated team readers. In these texts, beginning readers team up with a more experienced reader to participate in reading texts that have words, phrases, and sentences that may not be decodable for the beginning reader at this point in the curriculum. The interactive topics encourage discussion and engagement with each book’s theme.

Because these readers are new, they are not yet included in the Foundations A Teacher’s Manual. Use this guide to incorporate them into the end of the following Foundations A lessons.
